Sony Ericsson produces appealing cell phones and cell phone accessories, and develops powerful mobile computing technology. The Japanese consumer electronics company established Sony Ericsson in 2001 Sony Corporation and the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to make mobile phones. Both companies have stopped producing their own mobile phones. The company's global management is based in London. It also has research and development teams in such countries as Sweden, Japan, China, Canada, the Netherlands, the United States, India and the United Kingdom.Sony Ericsson presented the Walkman-branded series music phones in 2005. The Sony Ericsson W-series music phones are prominent for being the first music-centric series cell phones. The company is planning to produce affordable handsets for Indian people with low income.

Sony Ericsson cell phones include the following series:
- D series are low-mid range cell phones. T-Mobile network operator exclusive.
- F series are low-mid range mobile phones. Vodafone and Vodafone partner network operator exclusive.
- J series are low end candybar mobile phones that do not feature cameras.
- K series are low to high end candybar cell phones that feature cameras with dual front design. High-end model are branded under the CyberShot name.
- M series are mid range smartphones.
- P series are high end Symbian OS smartphones.
- S series are high-mid end swivel cell phones.
- T series are low to high end candybar type cell phones and a carryover from the former Ericsson line of cell phones. Later branched off into the K series and the J series.
- V series are mid to high end mobile phones. Vodafone and Vodafone partner network operator exclusive.
- W series are low to high end mobile phones branded under the Walkman name.
- Z series are low to high end clamshell mobile phones.
